Embracing The Kingdom – 3

The Promise of Eternal Life

Deuteronomy 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.

Not everybody likes the life of God; some love their lives more. There is the earthly life and there is the heavenly life. All men look alike whether saved or not, but what makes us different is whether we have received eternal life and are subject to eternal life.

Many have only received eternal life as a potential in their spirits not their souls. If you are subject to eternal life you will feel like God feels. God is eternal life. Jesus is eternal life. Eternal life is a way of living that is truly divine. If you are subject to eternal life your thoughts will be divine. You will live like God lives; your wisdom, desires, and priorities will be divine.

1 Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

Some of us want things coming to us easily, but the complacent seeker gets nothing from God. The kingdom of God suffers violence and the violent takes it by force. You have to be a kind of person to take the kingdom. There is a way you take the kingdom, with violence and force. It is an attitude of the spirit, unrelenting. So if you are weak there is nothing for you. Scripture commands us to be strong in the Lord.

Take a look again at 1Timothy 6:12. To ‘lay hold’ means to take possession, to overtake, to attain, to catch, to seize eternal life. The greatest promise that God has given us is life. When Christ appears, there is a promise in Him and it is a promise of life. There are certain promises that are in time, but before time began God made a promise; and this is the promise – Life.

2 Timothy 1:1 Paul and apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life.

Jesus is eternal life. The promise God has given us is eternal life.

1 John 5:11 And this is the record that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

Eternal life created everything you see now. When you have eternal life you would be wise. Eternal life will teach you life’s priorities. Life speaks, life instructs. Everyday we have transactions wherever we choose. Rather than die to self, some people hold on to their carnal life, which is based on nothing. The cross demands a death of the old life and then brings the new life. Some people are enemies of the cross. They resist the Lord, a trait common to us all.

Philippians 3:18-19 For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.

Our righteousness does not add anything to God. It is for your good if we submit and it is a beautiful thing to be submitted to God. When you submit, you will resist the devil. Every soul must learn obedience to God. Some of us may fight God but let God win you. Submit to God. Some of us don’t want to be tampered with. If you want to preserve your life, you will lose it eventually.

Matt 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

What have you trampled on the floor for the sake of the Lord? The 24 elders trash their crowns. The lady with the alabaster box shattered it before Jesus. What will you give in exchange? Is it that job? Is it your home? Is it that your time, silence or your whole life? You must lay down something to allow God give you something heavenly.

Eternal means no beginning, no ending. We have been called to reign in life. There is no value in this earthly life that can advance your course in God. Anything you cannot take out of this world into heaven is not worth it. The things that will follow you are the things you have on the inside. Don’t depend on anything out here in this world.

Angels don’t bow when you amass earthly treasures; it is the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit that is great in the sight of God. Acquire life; that is the true riches of the kingdom.
